I am so inspired by Nicole Ringgold’s work. Her site showcases her stone and botanical inspired jewelry and houses her blog. One review of her Instagram feed will keep you in awe for days. Her work is stunning and demonstrates her incredible skills in hand fabrication.
Her work is multi-layered. Its simplicity draws you in so you can appreciate its level of complexity. This is especially true with her botanical subjects. Arugula, Broccoli, and Thyme are as strong a subject for wearable works of art as her delicate florals. The sense of play in her pieces keeps you engaged and delighted as you explore the subtleties of their form. For me, that’s their charm.
She shared some work in progress shots of the piece she submitted for the Saul Bell Design Award. It’s a Concord Grape Vine, leaves, and a cluster of grapes combined into a breathtaking necklace. Visit Nicole’s Facebook page to see more of her work. It will be time well spent.
