I’m finishing up two larger pieces today. Here is the first one. It’s a soldered sterling silver bracelet. I’m so happy with the way this turned out. It looks and feels good on your wrist. I will be making more bracelets with this design.
Today, I created a DIY soldered sterling silver prong setting for a faceted stone. Believe me, it’s a lot harder to make than it looks! I can’t tell you how many times it took me to get this one soldered. I think it’s probably much easier with a larger stone.
Still working on that bracelet with the set stones. I’m pretty sure it will not be done until Friday.
My large project (hint: it’s a bracelet) is still not finished. It’s ready to have the three stones in it set in the morning. Maybe I’ll have a photo tomorrow.
I didn’t want to shirk my 30 Days of Creativity responsibilities though so here’s a mod inspired pair of earrings. They are opaque, matte glass wire wrapped in sterling silver. I added some small sterling beads for a bit of an accent, oxidized and buffed them with steel wool.
I entered the
Bride’s Pleasure MOJO contest at Jewelry Lessons. My For the Non-traditional Bride won the “E” (for experienced) category. What a pleasant and unexpected surprise! This was my second MOJO. The first time I jumped in was back in March.
The contest involved making a piece for a bride and her bridesmaid using at least one tutorial available on the site. I chose flowers as my theme. I decided I wanted to work in copper and do some metalsmithing. I would have loved to use silver but I wanted to make a statement piece. The bride I was designing for may not be demure but she is thrifty. (more…)
I am working on a large piece but it is not finished. So I made this bracelet as a mate for my Day 20 earrings. I have made this bracelet before but not oxidized. It makes a huge difference! The oxidation really pulls it together and pops the green. Hope to have the larger piece ready tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Only a few days left to go! I played with my wire wrapping jig today. I intended to make links for a bracelet. These lace squares were too delicate for that. I did like them though and wanted to use them in something. I added some small peridot rounds to pop a little color and thought they’d make a pretty pair of earrings. Not my usual style but trying a few new things is what 30 Days of Creativity is about…at least that’s how I’m working it.
Today I made a pair of wire wrapped sterling silver earrings. I found two coin pearls that kinda sorta matched and suspended a sterling ring from them. They still needed a little something. I added a Jonquil Swarovski crystal inside each ring to catch the sunlight.
